Question, Persuade and Refer Training

Presented by: Mental Health America of Ohio, Jessica Fannin

Description: Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) is an evidence-based suicide prevention training that is recommended by the CDC and the Franklin County Suicide Fatality Review Team. This QPR training will focus on identifying warning signs in youth and connecting youth with appropriate resources. Includes Question, Persuade, and Refer certification.

Community Voices Coming Together for Suicide Prevention

Presented by: Franklin County Public Health

Description: This community event will feature a panel of local individuals sharing their stories. Prevention education and resources (e.g., lock boxes and naloxone) will be provided. Resource tables and refreshments will be available. The goal is to focus on prevention, community, and resiliency.

Lethal Means Counseling Training

General Community LMC Training

Facilitated by: Dr. Jeff Tabares

Description: This workshop will provide an overview of safety counseling with individuals at risk and provide practical suggestions for navigating conversations about safety and firearms. It is also designed to enhance attendees’ knowledge about LMC to encourage people to use secure firearm-safe storage practices and limit or reduce their access to other potentially lethal suicide attempt methods during periods of elevated risk. Attendees will understand components of suicide prevention through design, how secure firearm storage can prevent firearm injury or death, how to talk about secure firearm storage with others, and how to challenge common misperceptions about means safety and lethal means counseling. 3 CEs will be provided through the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. Firearm lock boxes will be provided.
